'''Fray''' is a mysterious phenomenon on the [[Carpet]]. It causes darkness, hairs are flattened, animals flee and the air pressure rises. Whether Fray is some spiritual omnipotent being, or a perfectly explainable natural phenomenon is under discussion.

[[Mouls]] can sense Fray approaching, and use the following confusion to attack. Animals seem to be able to sense Fray, but apart from those only the [[Munrung]] [[Snibril]] can feel a few minutes ahead when Fray is close.
