A tavern in Gleam Street, run by Mr. Cheese, The Bucket is unofficially a policemen's pub, because the owner and the clients suit each other very well. Nobody else wants to drink in The Bucket, so Ankh-Morpork Watchmen can drink there without seeing a bar fight where they might have to interfere. Ankh-Morpork Watchmen are silent and serious drinkers, but when they do talk, Mr. Cheese listens sympathetically. Mr. Cheese seldom gives his opinion or even a laugh, but sometimes he does smile because he finds descriptions of some homicide cases entertaining.

The yard of the bucket has several sheds which are rented out to small businesses. The Ankh-Morpork Times began in one such, and Mr Cheese may still be its landlord.

Ghouls have been touched upon lightly and infrequently in the Discworld series. They may or may not be a type of undead species, they certainly have a taste for human flesh, and they have integrated into human society to some degree. A minor but possibly important fact is that ghouls make quite good chefs.
Rambut Handisides was a luckless History Monk who was fated to be the second senior man on duty the day the Procrastinators picked up the building of a new Glass Clock in faraway Ankh-Morpork, and went into an uncontrollable time-dump. With old Mr. Shoblang dead, and outright panic settling in to the Procrastinator Hall, it fell to Lu-Tze and Lobsang Ludd to rescue the situation and prevent another Big Crash.

While, to everyone's amazement, Lobsang rebalances time across the whole world right down to the very last second (a feat that had never been done before), and the Sweeper gives Rambut, an essentially uncomplicated man, a lesson in practical politics, namely "you can take the credit for this, as they're likely to believe you did it rather than some no-account novice, and you're welcome to the extra momos in your thugpa come dinner-time.
Reporting on Britain's coldest winter for a quarter of a century, the Guardian front page of Weds 6th January led on an appealing picture of a resident phalange of African baboons sitting in the snow in a British safari park, eating hot baked pototoes the zoo staff had prepared for them.

However, the baboon is a monkey. The Guardian clearly and blatantly misidentified the creature as an ape and gave it aspirations above its station.

The weight of corrections delivered - including from Pratchett readers who threatened to sent the Librarian round via L-space to correct the nespaper's zoology - was so heavy that the paper had to issue a correction and an apology today for not using the m-word where the m-word clearly applied...--194.70.181.1 09:16, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
